Welcome to the Fishing Report from Townsend, Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains. It is a cloudy morning here on the Peaceful Side of the Smokies. The highway was wet on my drive in so it must have rained early.
I thought it was supposed to be dry today but the weather forecast is giving a 40% chance of rain this afternoon. Accumulation amounts are low so the showers are likely going to be isolated pop-up storms. The rest of the week looks like it will be sunny and beautiful. Check out the low temperatures on the chart below. 50's across the board for the lows tonight. I may have to get the fire pit back in order at the house.

Water levels rose on Little River yesterday but they are back down already. A customer stopped in this morning and he reported having high, stained water on Lynn Camp Prong yesterday. He caught some fish but had to work for them.
This morning the gauge on Little River is giving a reading of 1.89 feet or 173 c.f.s. This is higher than the daily normal of 115 c.f.s. Current water levels are more what we are used to in the spring.
Water temperatures are staying very consistent. At 9 am today the gauge was reading 68F. Overnight temperatures across the mountains are going to be in the low 50's tonight which means we will see a drop in water temperatures. If it cools more some folks might want to consider dusting the waders off.
Higher water levels means nymphs may be your best bet today. Try some Prince Nymphs, Green Weenies or Squirmy Worms. You may even want to add some split shot to get it down more.
If nymphs aren't your thing, dries are always an option. I would start with a Yellow Stimulator. A #14 would be good for the rougher water. Other good patterns are Rob's Hellbender, Parachute Adams and the Neversink Caddis. A dropper will increase your chances also.
I was looking on Facebook this morning to check for messages, etc and came across a news story from WBIR Channel 10 here in Knoxville. It said "Armadillos spread in East TN; surround Smokies". At first I was wondering if it was a joke....but no...apparently armadillos are spreading to Tennessee. They have found some in Wears Valley and Pigeon Forge among other places. You can read the story and watch the video HERE.
Byron will be back with the Fishing Report tomorrow morning. Hopefully the weather cooperated and they had good fishing on the Cumberland River in Kentucky. I can't wait to hear the report.
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
