Welcome to the Fishing Report from Townsend, Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains. At 5:07 am, the temperature outside is 52.3 degrees.
Today will be mostly sunny and warm, with a high temperature in the mid-70’s. Tomorrow will be a carbon copy of today. Rain returns Wednesday and Thursday but it will remain warm during the period.

Many roads in the Park were closed this weekend due to high winds and downed trees on the roads. It appears all roads have re-opened.
When I wrote this report yesterday morning, the streams were rising. They kept rising to a high level before peaking and receding. Little River reached at level of almost four feet, which is dangerous to wade. Little Pigeon River rose to almost 5 feet. Oconaluftee River exceeded the five foot mark too.
The rivers have receded so many are fishable and can be waded today. Water temperatures are very good in the low to mid elevations. Fishing will be good overall in the Smokies today. I would plan on using weighted nymphs.
Lowland river fishing on Little River is good. The river looked great to me yesterday afternoon. Trout were stocked Thursday for the first time since last Spring.
If you are boating, there are fishing opportunities on some tailwaters in our region today. Refer to the TVA website from the links below to see if you can work with their generation schedules.
Well, Fly Tyers Weekend is just a few days away. Plan to attend this weekend if you can. This year’s event will be held at Tremont Lodge in Townsend. We have over 50 fly tyers lined up to demonstrate for you. The event is free. It will be held Saturday and Sunday, November 2nd and 3rd. All you have to do is show up. It will be a lot of fun and you will learn from some of the best anglers and tyers in our region.
CLICK HERE to see who is tying and where they are from. Food will be sold by Casting for Recovery at the event, so you don’t have to leave.
This will be our largest Fly Tyers Weekend ever. I have been told, this is the largest fly tying event in the Southeast. Don’t miss this one!
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
