All streams that have USGS gauges are flowing near normal but some are rising. You might want to wait before going fishing and check the flows first from the links below. Some stream could be temporarily stained this morning. The rain should end before noon. Hopefully they will be clear and flowing at a level that is safe to wade. There is no mention of heavy rain in the forecast today.
Nymphs seem to be working best though there are hatches occurring. I would plan on using nymphs but be prepared with a selection of different sizes of Parachute Adams and Elk Hair Caddis. Dry fly fishing may be good, now that the water temperatures have warmed. Some anglers have been catching trout on dry flies this week.
Fishing for smallmouth bass is fair in the lowland rivers. Use nymphs and streamers.
TVA and the Corps are generating and sluicing at most dams today, but there are reductions in discharge at some. Most lake levels are lower than they were last year. With no significant rainfall predicted in the near future, we may be fishing on the tailwaters much earlier this year. I hope so.
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
