Welcome to the Fishing Report from Townsend, Tennessee in the Great Smoky Mountains. At 5:28 am, the temperature outside is 52.0 degrees.
It will be cool and wet today, with a high in the low 50’s and rain, up to a half and three quarters of an inch possible. Rain showers will continue tonight with a chance for up to a quarter of an inch.
Little River is flowing at 382 cubic feet per second (cfs) or 2.44 feet on the flow gauge. Median flow for this date is 349 cfs. The water temperature is 54.1 degrees this morning.
Most streams in the Smokies are flowing at or above normal today. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is temporarily closed.
Most lowland rivers are flowing higher than normal.
The predicted rain today and tonight will likely raise stream levels and possibly stain the water.
All dams in the region that I checked this morning will be generating, sluicing and even spilling at some.
The Governor of Tennessee, Bill Lee, issued an executive order late yesterday. This is a 12-page document. I printed two copies and Daniel and I will meet this morning to make some decisions. The order goes into effect at midnight tonight.
The executive order begins:
“An order directing Tennesseans to stay home unless engaging in essential activities to limit their exposure to and spread of COVID-19”
You can read the full order by CLICKING HERE.
I don’t think there is any doubt, non-essential businesses will be closing for two weeks or longer, in Tennessee. That has occurred in some cities in our state already.
Mail order and curbside pickup has been keeping us and you going over the past two weeks.
I will update you tomorrow morning.
I plan to work, one way or another. I am building a fly tying department on our online store. I think I can get it done in two months, working full time. You can see the fly tying hook section I am building by CLICKING HERE. I will be working at the shop, where our photography studio is located.
We are going to get through this together.
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
