Many rivers rose to or near or beyond flood stage yesterday morning, but most receded quickly. Little River exceeded flood stage temporarily but crested before reaching the very high level it reached during the February flood.
Lowland rivers are flowing too high to safely wade and fish.
TVA and the Corps are holding back water at some tributary dams in the area due to flooding in the Tennessee River basin. You may find your favorite tailwater fishable today. Check from the links below to see if you can work with the generation schedules on your favorite river.
We changed our operating hours to our old schedule, Sunday through Thursday – 9 am until 5 pm, Friday and Saturday – 9 am until 6 pm. This will give you the opportunity to pick up your orders later in the day. We think that will help. We are offering curbside pickup, phone mail order and online buying.
For curbside pickup and phone orders, please call us in advance at 865-448-9459. We will help you make decisions.
I am working on the Fly Tying Materials and Tools department on our online store. Yesterday I photographed and developed pages for fly tying thread. I will be adding more thread again today and tomorrow. You can see the new thread department by CLICKING HERE. Look at the menu to the left to see other category options in the new fly tying department.
Using new lighting and techniques, I am able to photograph small items without shadows, which is consistent with our visual images on the online store. Yesterday was the first time using the new lighting. I tweaked it all day and the photography is improving.
Customers have begun ordering from the new department though there is a lot of work to be done, months of work, not weeks.
We are improving our mail order systems too, with an eye on better service. Service to customers can always be improved.
When businesses go through tough periods, like I have many times since 1973 when I opened my first business, we start thinking differently. We are forced to become innovative. And ultimately, we emerge from the downturn stronger and better. I have never been one to call tough times a blessing, but there are good things that occur during downturns.
Napoleon Hill wrote: “For every adversity, there is an equal or greater benefit”. I read that in the 70’s and never forgot.
That is what we are doing at Little River Outfitters.
We are making the best of what there is for now, and preparing for the future, long term.
It gives us something very positive to look forward to.
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
