Streams in the Smokies are all flowing very high and unsafe to wade and fish.
Lowland rivers are flowing very high and some may be stained.
Today will not be an ideal lake fishing day. You will likely find stained water in some areas and possibly in the main channels. It will be windy, 5 to 15 miles per hour with gusts up to 25 miles per hour.
Fishing on a tailwater is a much better option. There are breaks in the generation scheduled at many dams. Visit the TVA website from the links below to see what your options are.
I know a lot of people have planned fishing trips to the Smokies this week. Some are here now. Fishing can be extraordinary this time of the year. I talked to John from Virginia yesterday, who has been a customer for years. He and his buddy are here to fish and were weathered out. I feel bad for them.
It happens to all of us. I can’t count how many times it has happened to me. I can honestly say, on those trips, me and my buddies or Paula and I still had a great time. We were where we wanted to be. We were with people we wanted to be with.
Have a great day and thank you for being here with us.
